5 weeks

For the next 5 weeks I will be going to my birthing classes. We started last night. As you may remember my husband originally didn't want to go. He since changed his mind and he went with me. Their is about 20 couples in the class all ranging in age. I swear one couple has to be at least 50+. In fact most of the class my husband and I sat their guessing how old they were.
The first class was harmless enough. We all introduced ourselves. We told our names, dr name, due date, what gender we were having if we knew and one craving from the moms and one thing about pregnancy from the dads. The class had responses from the moms like I really like quarter pounds, ice cream, leafy greens. Some of the dads said things like I like rubbing her feet, watching the belly grow, feeling the kicks, one man even said he loved see his wife changed and realizing how much he loved her more each day (awww, we later found out they had been trying for a baby for awhile).
So I am sure you want to know what we had to say...I said I craved milk. Which is so true. I love milk. Since I have been pregnant I haven't met a milk carton I didn't want to drink. My husband response was "I just cant wait to get started on this new chapter in my life". Ok so now I am sure you may think that is sweet and he is looking ahead to being a dad. Oh no. This was his cryptic way of saying I just want her to hurry up and have this baby so I can go kick it with my friends. But I didn't let that bother me. We still had two hours to go. We watched a movie of a birth. I felt like a 12 year old in sex ed at one point. I think both my husband and I squirmed at the same part. The lights came on some were crying and some had a puzzled look on their face. My husband and I have both been present for two births so we know what to expect, technically speaking. But the movie seemed to highlight parts I blocked out. Next our teacher went over the first stages of labor. Can I run out the class now?!?!?
The group of us then sat around in a large circle and talked about how we have physically changed. One lady mentioned how people tend to touch your belly without a second thought. Later that night once my husband and I had gotten home he asked me "do people really just come up to you and touch you" he had this with his grossed out voice. I said yep, sometimes. He said "that's rude" and walked out the room.
Cant wait to see what the next class brings our way.

That's too funny -- when I was pregnant, I craved strawberry milk constantly. In my third trimester, I think I was drinking three bottles of it a day!

We didn't do birthing classes, but WOW -- that sounds REALLY interesting!

Wow, you are a brave, brave woman for facing the birthing videos! "Miracle of birth," my fanny -- every time I read the birth part in my pregnancy books, I end up in a crying jag. As one woman on a message board said her doctor told her, "All of the options suck, but kid's got to come out one way or another." Ahhhhhhhhh!!!

Milk...yumm-o! I think I'm going through two gallons of whole milk a week at this point. I'm sure I'll be up to three in the next month :)

Sounds like an interesting class. I am glad that your husband decided to come with you. You are a strong woman and I admire you for sharing your story with us.
